The built environment particularly helps form the surroundings of human life. It gives each town its individual character and is continually producing new unique urban landscapes. As an information portal on building culture and conservation in Berlin Stadt.Bild.Berlin wishes to develope reflection on the importance of architecture for its surroundings and contribute to sharpen the sight for the appearance of the town. Unfortunately it frequently occurs that consciousness for a lifeworthy architecture is only weakly developed. Dubious results of restorations and renewal are rarely discussed in the wide public, also successful new buildings are only valued within expert circles. However the question concerns us all: In what surroundings do we live?
