Yes2gaslicht.de is a citizens' initiative, which is supported by the activity of citizens in Berlin and in the whole of Germany. We appeal to the Senate of Berlin to make public all the figures which were the basis of the decision on 23 November 2011 for the demolition/replacement of gas street lighting in Berlin by the SPD-CDU coalition government of the City of Berlin. We expect from the Senate of Berlin that it opens itself up to latest technical developments and perceptions in the energy and light sector. In our eyes the destruction of Berlin gas street lighting will prove itself to be a grave urban sin. For this reason we demand now: an immediate end to this waste of money and an end to the destruction of gas lighting every evening of the City! Berlin flair and Berlin gas street lamps belong together.
